Aid and Attendance

Aid and Attendance (A&A) is an SMC sub-category for veterans who require the regular aid of another person for activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring. Also covers veterans who are bedridden, blind, or in a nursing home.

Housebound is a related but lesser benefit for veterans substantially confined to their home due to service-connected conditions.

Both are part of the SMC ladder and can substantially increase your monthly compensation.
