Chapter 35 DEA — dependents’ education

Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35) provides up to 36 months of education benefits — tuition, books, and a monthly stipend — for spouses and dependent children of veterans who are P&T.

• Use for college, technical training, apprenticeships, or correspondence courses
• Spouse benefit window: 10 years from eligibility
• Child benefit window: between ages 18 and 26
• Apply via VA Form 22-5490 (initial) or 22-5495 (changes)
